EDMONTON – After an extensive search, the Board of Directors for The Good Samaritan Society (GSS) and Good Samaritan Canada (GSC) are proud to announce the selection of Dr. Katherine Chubbs as the next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Dr. Chubbs’ innovative approach to leadership and commitment to effective partnerships and engagement are the vital skills needed to bring about a positive cultural transformation for the organization. The COVID-19 global pandemic has brought on challenges to the care sector, including to the workforce, meeting the complex needs of residents/clients, and addressing infrastructure needs for a continued and sustained pandemic response.
“I believe that with every challenge, there is an opportunity for growth and progress,” said Dr. Chubbs. “As we continue to strive to be a leader in the care sector, my focus in the coming months will be to evolve our strategies and operations creating a roadmap that will help us navigate through the pandemic response and recovery and beyond. Our team is made up of people who genuinely care about making a difference at all times, but especially during the pandemic. As such, one of my priorities will be to visit our sites as soon as possible, to immerse myself in the organization and to learn about our work at the frontlines. I also look forward to connecting with those we care for as well as their loved ones.”
Most recently, Dr. Chubbs served as Chief Zone Officer in the south zone for Alberta Health Services between 2017 and 2020. Dr. Chubbs holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree with a specialization in healthcare management from Walden University, where she is a nominee for the Outstanding Doctoral Study award, as well as a Master of Health Studies – Leadership Stream and a Bachelor of Nursing.
“Dr. Chubbs brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, and as a Board, we are confident she will be successful in leading us through these challenging times,” said Dr. Jeanne Besner, Chairperson of the Good Samaritan Board of Directors. “As we look to elevate GSS and GSC as a leader and contributor to best practices in the healthcare sphere, Dr. Chubbs will be integral to making this goal a reality.”
