The Good Samaritan Society, a Lutheran Social Service Organization, is a not-for-profit, registered charity with over 65 years of experience providing specialized health and community care services in innovative and caring environments.
With the snow and cold outside, our hearts are warmed as we gather around our tables and trees this Christmas. We can be thankful for our many blessings. At Good Samaritan, we hope you can open your hearts and share warmth and good cheer with the people in our care.
This time of year, we ask our families, donors, and supporters to give a little extra towards the recreation programs at our care homes so we can provide activities to support our residents’ social and spiritual health.
While we receive provincial funding to provide care, many recreation activities require additional support from people like you to ensure all our residents can access various activities – like the painting and art programs that allow residents like John B. to create this year’s beautiful artwork.
Joannie Robertson, one of our great Recreation Therapists at the Good Samaritan Stony Plain Care Centre, shares the reason recreation is important and how you can help:
“Our recreation programs help improve the health and wellness of residents – not just their physical and mental health, but also their spiritual and emotional well-being. Donors support special activities, entertainment, or specific equipment, focusing on personalized therapies for individuals. Extra funding means a lot and allows us to expand our recreation offering or purchase equipment to enhance programs for our residents, adding much more to their daily living.”
Please give today to support the recreation programs and other comforts we offer in our care homes or any other Good Samaritan program dear to your heart.
Together, we can bring joy to those we serve.
Blessings upon you this Christmas and a safe and healthy New Year!
