While it may be cold and snowy outside, our hearts are warmed by the love of family and friends. This Christmas, we hope you can open your heart and share warmth and good cheer with the people in our care.
This time of year, we ask for support for our recreation programs at our care homes to continue providing great activities for our residents’ physical, mental, social, and spiritual health.
While provincial funding provides care, recreation activities require additional support from people like you to ensure all our residents can access them.
Pam Bertrand, one of our great Recreation Therapists at the West Highlands Centre in Lethbridge, shares the reason recreation is so essential for our residents:
“Recreational Therapy allows people in continuing care to participate in activities, meet new people, and form new relationships. It is an opportunity to get people out of their rooms, socialize, and make friends. I am fortunate to see firsthand how people build each other up, encourage each other to get involved, and support each other in their times of vulnerability. Friendship becomes a strong bond for our residents, and it is an honour to watch these friendships develop. It is one of the reasons that I am so happy that I get to work where I do and will continue to until I am the one looking for a friend.”
Please give today to support the recreation programs and other comforts we offer in our care homes or any other Good Samaritan program dear to your heart. Together, we can spread cheer all year.
Thank you for your regular gifts to Good Samaritan. 2024 was our 75th year of service, and we look forward to continuing for the next 75 years onward.
Blessings upon you this Christmas and a safe and healthy New Year!
