Village by the Station Volunteer Appreciation 2016

ALL ABOARD the Volunteer Express!! Our wonderful volunteer team is invited to join us for a steam train ride on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway, a 90 minute train ride through history. The train will take us through Prairie Valley and to the trestle at Trout Creek. Passengers can disembark and walk the trestle if they choose, while the train loads water for our return trip back to the station. There will be musical entertainers on board during the trip. Once we get back to the station, volunteers will be treated to a 1 hour concert by the famous KETTLE VALLEY BRAKEMEN! Jack and the boys will have us all clapping along and singing with them as we learn fun historical facts about the Kettle Valley Railway and the pioneers who were once the transportation heroes in our valley. The concert will be followed by a delicious BBQ.

Volunteers without transportation to Summerland should meet at the Good Samaritan Village By The Station at 12:45 p.m. in order to car pool or bus to the event. Bring a light jacket as tickets have been booked on the outdoor train cars.

Please confirm you attendance with Jean by May 13, 2016 and inform her of any special dietary restrictions (e.g. vegetarian). There are a number of wheel chair spots on the train, so please let Jean know well in advance if you need one. Come prepared for a truly fun and adventurous afternoon.
