Biography

Dr. Katherine Chubbs is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Good Samaritan Society, Good Samaritan Canada and Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre Ltd.

Katherine is a registered nurse by profession and has worked in a wide variety of clinical settings as a frontline nurse and manager. Katherine has completed a diploma and Bachelor of Nursing degree, a certificate program in Northern Nursing, a Master’s degree in Health Studies-Leadership and is a Certified Health Executive. Katherine holds an executive Doctoral degree in Business Administration.

Before joining Good Samaritan, Katherine’s extensive career in the healthcare field included serving as the Chief Zone Officer in the south zone for Alberta Health Services, as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for the Eastern Health Region in Newfoundland and Labrador, and as the Director of Professional Practice, Infection Prevention and Control, and Rural Services for Alberta Health Services.

Katherine is the former president of the Academy of Canadian Executive Nurses and the former chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of the Canadian College of Health Leaders. She is an active volunteer for the Canadian College of Health Leaders, including acting as a national health leader mentor. In her spare time, Katherine likes to spend time in the community and can often be found helping out with various initiatives at her church, local shelters, and food kitchens.

Biography

Candice began her career with The Good Samaritan Society in 2007 as a Care Manager at the Good Samaritan Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre. Since then, she has served in various roles, including Site Manager, Regional Community Program Manager, Senior Director of Operations, and most recently, as Director of Operations for Alberta and Hospitality Services.

Candice is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Alberta, a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Management, and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Athabasca University. Candice is also a Certified Health Executive (CHE) from the Canadian College of Health Leaders.

In addition to her experience in continuing care, Candice’s background in nursing includes experience in medicine and public health. Candice has over 14 years of management experience in the continuing care sector in Alberta.

Biography

Steve comes to Good Samaritan from Covenant Care and Covenant Living where he held the role of Vice President, People & Information Technology. In this role, Steve was instrumental in developing the core operational human resources and information technology portfolios. This included the development of an employee engagement strategy and the development of industry key performance indicators. Furthermore, he led the design of a growth and innovation framework aimed to enhance senior’s care and enterprise efficiencies.

As a candidate for the designation of Strategic Management Professional, Steve led the implementation of reinvigorating the alignment of the mission, vision and values of Covenant Care and Covenant Living. This involved engaging with leaders, staff and residents to find purpose and alignment to the organizations mission, vision and values.

Steve holds a graduate certificate in Executive Leadership, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), a postgraduate degree in Environmental Health (BEH) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Alberta. Additionally, he is a Senior Certified Professional with the Society for Human Resources Management and a Certified Human Resources Professional in Canada.

Steve is currently the Chair of the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Board of Alberta.

Biography

Liliana LeVesconte is a seasoned senior financial officer with a track record of success in the higher education industry and the broader not-for-profit sector. With extensive experience, she has consistently demonstrated her leadership expertise. Liliana excels in providing strategic directions for finance teams, capital management, payroll, and other portfolios, yielding enhanced efficiencies, superior asset management, and motivated staff. Liliana comes to Good Samaritan from the Sturgeon Public Schools Division where she has held the role of Associate Superintendent. Previous to that, she was at the University of Alberta as the Senior Financial Officer, Facilities and Operations. Liliana holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Biography

As a dedicated and experienced nurse leader, I have spent 30 years in the healthcare industry, primarily focusing on improving patient care and outcomes. My journey in nursing leadership has been driven by a passion for quality healthcare and a commitment to inspiring and leading teams towards excellence.

Throughout my career, I have held various leadership roles, including staff nursing in both rural and urban centres, Rural Acute Director, Executive Director for Quality Management, and currently VP and Chief Quality Officer with Good Samaritans, where I've honed my skills in strategic planning, team management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. I believe in the power of collaboration and have successfully implemented innovative healthcare practices that have enhanced client care and staff satisfaction.

I hold a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on Leadership and Healthcare System Management. I am a Certified Healthcare Executive and continually strive to stay updated with the latest advancements in nursing and healthcare. I am committed to creating a positive work environment for nurses and healthcare professionals where their skills and contributions are valued and nurtured.

My leadership philosophy revolves around empathy, open communication, and a commitment to evidence-based practices. I am dedicated to guiding and mentoring the next generation of nursing leaders and believe that by working together, we can make a significant impact on the healthcare industry.

In my free time, I enjoy reading novels of most genres, camping, hiking, and attending art events. I find that these experiences enrich my leadership abilities in the healthcare sector. I look forward to continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, families, and the nursing community as a whole.
