Important details about West Village
A place to belong
Our model of care reflects Good Samaritan’s enduring commitment to Being and Belonging: Every Person, Every Home, a vision that inspires inclusive, relationship-based environments where everyone is known, valued, and supported to live meaningfully, wherever they call home.
Being and Belonging is more than a model—it is how we live our values. Our five domains support quality of life and a sense of home for every person. Every role supports the model—through trust, community, engagement, safety, and enrichment.
Serving diverse populations
As we age, we desire more personalized care that is conveniently located near home. At the same time, there are added pressures of Alberta’s growing aged population, which can strains the continuing care system.
Albertans are also becoming more divese, and that diversity is reflected in our aging population.
At Good Samaritan, we want to build a better future for Edmonton. That includes a future for Indigenous people and other diverse groups.
West Village will offer culturally safe care where Indigenous seniors and Elders can bring their own language, culture and spiritual practices. Residents from other cultural communities will be recognized, respected and welcomed for their history and culture.
Small-home model
Thirty-years ago Good Samaritan pioneered the Small-Home Model, a revolutionary solution promoting community, dignity, and personalized care. We developed the first small homes for people with dementia.
Since then, this model has become the preferred model for seniors’ care internationally.
With decades of experience, Good Samaritan has reimagined the small home model, combining research and our own experiences with residents.

We will also have naming opportunities for parts of West Village…. everything from park benches and trees in the courtyards to naming the entire building. Opportunities will be limited, please contact us for more information.
