Board of Directors
The Good Samaritan Society and Good Samaritan Canada are governed by a Board of twelve (12) Directors, ten (10) Directors are laypeople and two (2) are clergy rostered in any one of the following ecclesiastical organizations:
- Lutheran Church-Canada (LCC);
- North American Lutheran Church (NALC);
- Canadian Association of Lutheran Congregations (CALC);
- Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) and its full-communion partner, the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC).
The Board of Directors of The Society is a governance board. As such, the Board defines the organization’s mission and sets its strategic directions and priorities, but delegates responsibility for staff and the day-to-day management of activities to the President and CEO. In its governance role, the Board meets regularly to:
Establish policy
Exercise its fiduciary responsibilities, including investment strategies
Monitor, advise and support the achievements of the strategic plan through the CEO Contribution Agreement
Focus on visioning for the future in an ever-changing healthcare and service delivery environment
